Are you looking for hands-on experience in public relations or history?

Substantive internships are available with the Downtown Painesville Organization. You'll be able to build your resume and professional network while gaining valuable experience. The Downtown Painesville Organization makes every effort to match interns to work that complements their studies, interests, and skills. Positions are available year-round.

- Public Relations & Marketing Fellowship -

As part of our Downtown Painesville team, Public Relations Fellows will assist with special events and promotional activities to strengthen downtown’s connection with the surrounding community.  Candidates should be creative, energetic, organized and possess strong writing skills; candidate should also be self-motivated, have the ability to work independently and take initiative on projects.

- History Fellowship -


A key component of the Downtown Painesville program is the preservation of our historical buildings and strong sense of place.  As part of our Downtown Painesville team, History Fellows will conduct and compile research on historical buildings and personalities as well as researching programs and grants to restore and preserve downtown’s legacy architecture.  Candidates should be energetic, organized and possess strong interest in history; candidate should also be self-motivated, have the ability to work independently and take initiative on projects

- Requirements -

  • Undergrad studying English, History, Sociology, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Urban Development, Business, or a related field.
  • A working knowledge of Excel and Word - basic computer skills required
  • Strong communicator, creative thinking, graphic design skills
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.

High school students with demonstrated ability may apply

  • Internships are unpaid
