Downtown Painesville is served by three Laketran bus routes. Over one million riders a year utilize Laketran to reach destinations throughout Lake County and Greater Cleveland.

Route 1 - Red Line - Painesville, Mentor, Great Lakes Mall
Route 4 - Pink Line - Madison, Painesville
Route 5 - Purple Line - Painesville/Fairport Circulator

Bus tickets cost $1.75 one way for adults and $0.75 for seniors, disabled riders, and children under 2-12. Children under two ride free. Exact change is required because drivers cannot make change.

Street Meters
Downtown offers plenty of metered parking spots for your convenience.  Meter times vary.  Please read the details posted on each meter.

Parking Garage
The City of Painesville maintains a 502-space parking garage with entrances on East Washington and South St. Clair.  The garage is safe, convenient, and very affordable at $.25/hr during business hours.   While no overnight parking is permitted, the garage is free in the evening and on weekends and holidays.

Monthly Permits
If you work in the downtown area, the City of Painesville offers low cost monthly parking permits within walking distance of your business. Visit the Parking Garage Booth Attendant or call (440) 639-4880 to obtain a monthly permit, for either the Parking Garage ($30.00/month) or the South State Street Parking Lot across from Joughin’s Hardware ($25.00/month).

Jury Duty
Parking is available to the public only in the lot on the north side of the court house or in the county lot on the north side of East Erie Street, adjacent to the Juvenile Justice Center.

Evergreen Cemetery’s rich history dates back to 1859 when the Village of Painesville began to buy land from four Western Reserve families. Celebrated for its natural beauty and unique design, people began to visit the cemetery weekly for walks and picnics. In 1897, the Old Burying Ground on Washington Street was chosen as the site for Harvey High School and many of the people laid to rest in the Old Burying Ground were relocated to Evergreen Cemetery.

Among the notable historical figures buried at Evergreen are thirteen Revolutionary War veterans, educator Thomas Harvey, Governor Samuel Huntington, suffragist Frances Jennings-Casement, railroad tycoon General Jack Casement, Cleveland Indians pitcher Paul Tillotson and 300 Civil War veterans including Medal of Honor recipient Howell Treat
