Ambitious and Achievable
The City of Painesville and Downtown Painesville Organization have partnered with Lake County Commissioners, Lake Erie College and Lake Health to develop a new master plan for downtown. The plan, both ambitious and achievable, calls for the demolition of aging Lake East Hospital and conversion of the hospital area into an upscale residential development that will draw middle and upper income residents into the heart of Painesville. Outlining opportunities for in-fill development, the downtown master plan balances economic growth with the preservation of our historic churches, courthouses, and old-fashioned shops. With a new master plan and institutional anchors such as Morley Library and the beautifully-renovated Lake County Courthouse, the future looks bright for Downtown Painesville.
